I purchased this book a few months back for use in my All Natural bath & body care line and it has been a really great asset with regards to ailments. Although I really do USE this book I couldn't rate it a 5 because of the non-existence of the safety precautions with regards to essential oils. Also, the section on pets is inaccurate. However, if you're in the all natural, holistic niche you will find this book to have every essential oil you can think of! Not to mention the recipes on how to clear cellulite, on facial oils for different skin types and much more...

Overall a great resource to use in recipes for the human body. For those seeking to use oils in their massage business be sure to read The Magic Touch: How to make 0,000 per year as a massage Therapist by Meagan R. Holub. There is a section on the value of using oils and/or lotions and is on the money! Also the successful business of massage is explained in detail all the way down to how to procure a ",000 time slot"! Meagan's style is easy to understand and so practical, you just have to do it!

Wizard and Glass (The Dark Tower, Book 4) Overviews

The end is near.
Start at the beginning.

The Dark Tower saga builds to an explosive climax...
In November 2003, the fifth Dark Tower book hits stores for the first time-followed by books six and seven.

This #1 bestseller heralds the beginning of the end.

Wizard and Glass (The Dark Tower, Book 4) Specifications

Frank Muller, the recognized virtuoso of audiobook narration (The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption), takes on Stephen King's Goliath tale of sorcerers, time travelers, and sci-fi love. Totaling more than 27 hours and spanning 18 cassettes, Wizard and Glass requires the listener to love Muller's Hannibal Lecter-like voice--either that or suffer in audio hell for the equivalent of three full working days. While some might find his breathy staccatos irritating at best, others will find his voice the perfect accompaniment to King's creepy characters and nightmarish plots. (Running time: 27 hours, 18 cassettes)

Wizard and Glass (The Dark Tower, Book 4) CustomerReview

The fourth book in King's Dark Tower series is a slight departure from his previous entries. It picks up where the third novel left off but soon uses a flashback to whisk the reader away to Roland's past where the majority of the book takes place. Part love story, part action-adventure, the flashback is so interesting and involving that you forget about the current story for awhile.

At the start of the book, our intrepid ka-tet composed of Roland, Eddie, Susannah, Jake, and Oy must survive their trip on the insane train Blaine. Using a slight twist on the riddling begun in the previous book, they manage to make it to Topeka in one piece and find a variation on Kansas which is both familiar and foreign to them at the same time. Their trip has taken them away from the path of the Beam however, and they must find their way back via a highway. Nearby is a thinny, a disruption in reality that makes a noise which gets into your head.

Along the way, the group stops and Roland tells a long tale from his past which gives the others insight into how he began his quest for the Dark Tower. The reader also gets a lot of insight into Roland's character from this flashback. Roland, with his best friends Alaine and Cuthbert, his original ka-tet, are sent away from Gilead after Roland earns his guns in order to keep them away from danger. A war with the "Good Man" Farson is seemingly about to spread to the region, but the distant small town of Hambry is thought to be safe. Soon after arrival, Roland meets Susan, a young woman promised to the town's mayor as his consort. Roland and Susan quickly fall in love. Although they try to fight it, fate - ka in this world - brings them together and they do their best to keep their relationship secret. Susan becomes an important part of Roland's ka-tet and aids them in their plans.

Meanwhile, the three boys discover there's some sort of plot related to Farson going on in the town. Not long after arriving they make enemies of a trio who call themselves the Big Coffin Hunters and are friends of the mayor. They are lead by Eldred Jonas who failed his gunslinger test years ago in Gilead. The two opposing ka-tets try to outmaneuver each other, hoping the other will expose their real plans. Roland and his ka-tet find supplies which are part of Farson's plan; however, the most crucial piece is safely hidden away. The Coffin Hunters have temporarily given a local witch named Rhea a crystal ball to keep safe. This ball can show people terrible things, which often have terrible consequences both intended and unintended. In the end, there must be a showdown between Roland's ka-tet and Jonas's ka-tet.

Finally, the story returns to the present day where Roland, Eddie, and the others make their way to an emerald glass building. It becomes clear the group is off to see the Wizard and before long they aren't in Kansas anymore. This portion is much shorter compared to the flashback.

Overall, the book is very engaging, especially the flashback. You learn a lot about what made Roland the way he is today and you can sympathize with him more. Returning to the present day is a bit jarring and this portion pales in comparison to Roland's tale. Despite that, I'm looking forward to reading the next book and seeing where Roland and friends go from here.

Ranger's Apprentice: The Kings of Clonmel: Book 8 RelateItems

Ranger's Apprentice: The Kings of Clonmel: Book 8 CustomerReview

The Kings of Clonmel (2010) is the eighth Fantasy novel in the Ranger Apprentice series, following The Siege of Macindaw. In the previous volume, the Skandians went over the wall into the castle. Horace finally met Buttle in open combat. Keren fell out of a tower window.

While Alyss was in a trance, Will expressed his love for her. Then he was worried that she would reject him and she was not sure of what he said. So neither spoke of love at the time. But then Will received a letter from Alyss after returning to Seacliff fief.

In this novel, Will Treaty is a full Ranger of Araluen stationed in Seacliff fief. He and Alyss have fallen in love.

Alyss Mainwaring is a Courier. She was raised with Will and loves the Ranger.

Halt is Will's mentor. Although Will now has his own fief, he still considers himself as Halt's apprentice.

Horace is the Oakleaf Knight, a prodigal with a sword. He has known Will and Alyss since early childhood. He has also assisted Halt in several missions.

In this story, Will and Gilan are going to the annual Gathering. They are among the first to arrive, but Halt is not there. Crowley tells them that Halt has another mission.

After the Gathering, Crowley tells Will about plans to start a Special Task Group under Halt. Will would transfer back to Redmont Fief and become Halt's assistant. And Horace would be part of the Group. Gilan -- recently transferred to Whitby fief nearby -- would take care of both fiefs if Halt and Will went elsewhere on a mission.

Naturally, Will accepts the reassignment. The chance to be near Alyss is too good to refuse. And Will has definitely enjoyed missions with Halt and Horace.

Meanwhile, Halt has left Araluen to go to Selsey, a nearby fishermen's village on the sea coast. A religious organization has appeared there and Halt thinks them to be very much like the Outsiders group he has encountered in the past. They had pretended to be priests and acolytes of the god Alseiass and had solicited gold and other valuables to turn aside threats from another god.

Sure enough, the religious group is from the Outsiders. Some of them are staying in the background and committing crimes against property and persons. Then their leader is offering to drive away the bandits if their god is sufficiently awarded.

Hurt foils that plan and takes a prisoner back to Redmont. There he joins Will and Crowley for dinner at the inn. After dining, Halt tells them what he had learned and the first mission of the Special Task Group begins.

Halt now knows that the main organization is working in Hibernia. They have already taken control of five of the six kingdoms and are working in Clonmel. It just happens that the King of Clonmel is Halt's twin brother.

Halt, Will and Horace travel to Selsey and get a lift on a fishing boat to the Hibernian coast. After unloading their horses and gear, they head toward Dun Kilty, the King's castle. They pass through Craikennis and learn of a raid in nearby Duffy's Ford.

They also learn of a religious group at Mountshannon that is probably Outsiders. Halt sends Will to Duffy's Ford to track the raiders to their hideout. Halt and Horace go toward Mountshannon.

This tale involves the Rangers and Horace in political maneuvering in Clonmel. The Outsiders have turned most of the populace against their king. So Halt plans to restore their loyalty to the throne.

This story has many surprises. The next installment is Halt's Peril. Read and enjoy!

Highly recommended for Flanagan fans and for anyone else who enjoys tales of high adventure, political intrigue, and personal courage.

-Arthur W. Jordin

I purchased this book as part of The Family Giving Tree back-to-school drive. I volunteered to purchase and assemble two K-1 backpacks and the organization asked us to include a "beginning reader" book for the children.

Seeing this book, I fell in love with the story of a young gator who really wants a cookie and learns how to ask for one PROPERLY. The story conveys the importance for patience and asking for things with grace.

This book was part of a buy 3, get 1 free deal which was great-- I ended up donating the remaining 2 books to my colleagues who were also assembling backpacks.

Overall, this is a good book that encourages the importance of good manners while staying funny and interesting.

i thought this book was one of the most comprehensive ones on the market. it was very helpful....i only gave it 4 stars b/c it was a little bit technical, but the author explains things pretty well. wish it had pictures or illustrations (well, had some but maybe a bit more lay-man type drawings? but overall i'd really recommend this book for anyone with a thyroid problem, he starts with the basics: diagnosis, then treatment, symptoms, alternative therapies, experimental therapies, things you can do at home, etc. highly recommended, can't imagine you'd need another book on thyroid probs if you have this one, kinda the 'thyroid bible' so to speak.

Eclipse (The Twilight Saga) CustomerReview

When I finished New Moon by Stephanie Meyer I knew I'd want to read more of the series, but wasn't particularly worried about waiting awhile. Then I learned what everyone else already knew, that there really are only four books to read... and that the movie's coming soon. So I decided perhaps it was time to catch up on Eclipse.

The story really does move forward in Eclipse, and the characters really do change--not magically, but humanly, growing deeper and wiser. The heroine's less whiny and melodramatic. She spends more time acting and less time gazing meaningfully into eyes. And her dilemma, to commit, to know who she loves, to decide where her future will lie, is one that must be familiar to many readers, especially teenagers.

The dialog's fun and plausible. The relationships settle to uneasy familiarity. The threats grow slowly like a looming cloud, while jealousy rears its head and lays down to rest on the lap of love. As the final battle approaches, the feeling that Bella's being foolish again is gradually overcome by the thought that she might be wiser than she knows.

I suspect I enjoyed this one more than the previous two books, and now I shall look out for the fourth. Several story arcs are pleasingly resolved, but there's more than just Bella's future hanging in the balance, and there's lots of directions and mysteries still to tell. I think I may be getting hooked.

Drowned Wednesday (Keys to the Kingdom, Book 3) Overviews

Everyone is after Arthur Penhaligon. Strange pirates. Shadowy creatures. And Drowned Wednesday, whose gluttony threatens both her world and Arthur's.

With his unlimited imagination and thrilling storytelling, Garth Nix has created a character and a world that become even more compelling with each book. As Arthur gets closer to the heart of his quest, the suspense and mystery grow more and more intense. . . .

Drowned Wednesday (Keys to the Kingdom, Book 3) CustomerReview

It's hard to be Arthur Penhaligon. As if moving and being asthmatic wasn't bad enough, now he has had two nightmarish adventures, and dealt with the malevolent Morrow Days. In the third book of Garth Nix's dark fantasy series, "Drowned Wednesday," Nix spins his best story yet in this series.

Arthur and his pal Leaf are recuperating from the strange events of Monday and Tuesday... until suddenly the hospital is flooded. Leaf is abducted by a strange boat, and Arthur finds himself adrift on the Border Sea, on a hospital bed. After he's picked up by a shipful of friendly Salvagers, he finds that he's inadvertantly become the target for the malevolent pirate Feverfew, a mortal-turned-Denizen on a ship of bone.

He also encounters Drowned Wednesday, who has invited him to lunch. But unlike Grim Tuesday and Mister Monday, Wednesday needs his help, because she is cursed: she takes the form of a whale, and has a monstrous appetite. She's willing to give him the Key, but he has to deal with the malevolent Feverfew first, and rescue Leaf. Unfortunately to do that, he will have to take a rescue submarine to a seaport... which happens to be inside Wednesday's stomach.

For some reason, after the publication of "Grim Tuesday," the publishers decided to halt production and rerelease the two previous books in hardcover. As a result, "Drowned Wednesday" took forever to come out. Fortunately, it was worth the wait: as writing and characters go, "Drowned Wednesday" beats the second book and equals the first.

"Drowned Wednesday" more or less fits the mold of the previous novels: Arthur deals with the strange residents (rats and Denizens) of the various worlds, while trying to avoid being killed. It sounds grim, but Nix spices it up with plenty of humor, such as the stamp-collecting Salvager captain. One of the funniest moments has Arthur looking at a book about his adventures, which shows him as a buff action hero.

Fortunately, Nix keeps the story from getting formulaic by giving new twists to the story. Not only is it a seafaring tale, but he portrays the Morrow Day Wednesday as a victim, not a villain. Though Arthur is initially suspicious, it turns out that she's actually rather pitiful. And the final chapter of the book ends on an eerie cliffhanger involving the Skinless Boy.

The biggest change is in Arthur himself. In the previous two books, he was a reluctant hero. But now he is beginning to use the power of the Keys without worrying about it, and he is determined to deal with the other Morrow Days. Okay, he still worries a lot, but he's overcoming that; by the finale, he is much more comfortable as the Heir.

"Drowned Wednesday" equals "Mister Monday" for humorous dark-fantasy goodness -- with an extra helping of eccentric sailors and glowing ships.

The Book of Psalms: A Translation with Commentary Overviews

One of Newsweek’s Best Books of the Year and winner of the Robert Kirsch Award for Lifetime Achievement. A cornerstone of the scriptural canon, The Book of Psalms has been a source of solace and joy for countless readers over millennia. This timeless poetry is beautifully wrought by a scholar whose translation of The Five Books of Moses was hailed as a “godsend” by Seamus Heaney and a “masterpiece” by Robert Fagles. Alter’s The Book of Psalms captures the simplicity, the physicality, and the coiled rhythmic power of the Hebrew, restoring the remarkable eloquence of these ancient poems. His learned and insightful commentary illuminates the obscurities of the text.

The Book of Psalms: A Translation with Commentary RelateItems

The Book of Psalms: A Translation with Commentary CustomerReview

Alter, Robert, The Book of Psalms, A Translation with Commentary (New York, W. W. Norton & Company, 2007)
There may be dozens of books available today on the Psalms. I have a half dozen myself, but this is the one I constantly consult, on a weekly basis, when I write my notes on the Psalm of the week. It is the author's own `scholarly' translation, meaning that the objective was accurately rendering the words of the poets, with only secondary regard for a poetic rendering in English a la the KJV version of the 23rd Psalm. This is not to say the translation ignores poetic impact. The author will choose a phrasing with better poetic impact if the literal translation makes no sense to modern understanding. Unlike Greek, Hebrew is an extraordinarily concrete language, with few words for abstract concepts, so it is remarkable to see how often the literal Hebrew is downright earthy.
Included below the translation are ample notes explaining unfamiliar words and choices made in the course of the translation. Do not be scared off by this! There are no words in Hebrew script and there are no interminable references to what a dozen other scholars said about the translation of a particular word or phrase. These notes also contain ample explanations of settings and historical background. Compared to other commentaries I've read on the Psalms, these explanations are quite candid in confessing to what we really don't know about things like various musical instruments, instructions to the choir, or regarding the settings in which the Psalms may have been read or sung.
For those of you who may not know, Professor Alter (Professor of Hebrew and Comparative Literature at the University of California, Berkeley) is one of the two (or three, depending on whose counting) leading authorities on Biblical Hebrew literature, especially Hebrew poetry (the other leader is James Kugel). Befitting that background, Alter includes a brief introduction on the poetry of the Psalms, but to appreciate his work on this fully, you need to consult his The Art of Biblical Poetry.
An important aspect of the book for the non-scholar is that the book is simply very easy to read. It's print and cover have the appearance of a modern book of poetry. The built-in ribbon bookmark (hardcover edition) is an especially nice touch for a book meant to be in your living room, not in a scholar's carrel. This presentation does present some caveats. While it is far easier to read the Psalms as poetry in this book, it is not possible to cross reference material to other parts of the Bible. This approaches the Psalms entirely as a work of literature. For an appreciation of the Psalms as wisdom literature, prayers, or `prophesy', you should have a good cross-referencing study Bible.

The Shadows (The Books of Elsewhere, Vol. 1) Overviews

When eleven-year-old Olive moves into the crumbling old mansion on Linden Street, she's right to think there's something weird about the place, especially the walls covered in creepy antique paintings. But when she finds a pair of old-fashioned glasses in a dusty drawer, she discovers the most peculiar thing yet--

She can travel inside these paintings to Elsewhere, a world that's strangely quiet . . . and eerily sinister.

Olive soon finds that Elsewhere has secrets to hide--and the most annoying of them is Morton, a small boy with a big temper. As he and Olive form an uneasy alliance, Olive finds herself caught in a plan darker and more dangerous than she could have imagined, confronting a power that wants to be rid of her by any means necessary. It's up to her to save the house from the shadows, before the lights go out for good.

For fans of Roald Dahl and Neil Gaiman comes a tale at turns haunting, moving, and darkly funny (and best if read with a flashlight under the bed sheets--shhh!).

Amazon Best Books of the Month, June 2010:  Hair-raising adventures can be found close to home this summer. Soon after 11-year-old Olive Dunwoody moves into a rundown Victorian mansion with her nerdy mathematician parents, she realizes something isn’t quite right. It's full of oddities like strange paintings hanging on the walls and a trio of talking cats lurking in the shadows. While Olive's parents busy themselves solving math problems, she decides to work out the mysteries of the dusty old pictures by plunging headlong into the world on the other side of the frames. But, will she be able to escape the hidden dangers of Elsewhere? From the first few pages of The Shadows: The Books of Elsewhere, middle grade readers will be hooked on this spooky new series. --Lauren Nemroff

The Shadows (The Books of Elsewhere, Vol. 1) CustomerReview

Eleven-year-old Olive Dunwoody leads a lonely life. She is blessed to have the love of her parents, but they are very dedicated mathematicians who work at the university, so she doesn't have much in common with them. She also doesn't appear to have much luck making friends. The kids at school and in the apartment building never want to include her, even when the teachers insist. And as soon as Olive steps away, they seem to forget all about her.

With her record for making friends (or the lack thereof), Olive isn't expecting any different results when her parents buy the ancient mansion on Linden Street and they move into the new neighborhood. It will be just the three of them in this huge house, and the loneliness looms in all of the strange corners and empty rooms. It must have been similar for the previous owner; old Ms. McMartin lived there all by herself, along with her three cats. That is, until she died, right there in the mansion.

Olive does find parts of the house interesting, such as the zillions of paintings scattered on the walls, and the closets and drawers filled with old clothes and various items, including a pair of old glasses. But other locations are a bit creepy, like the gloomy basement where she feels like she's being watched, and the one painting in the hall where she could swear she sees a white shape moving through the trees. And then things really start to get weird.

Olive gets a visitor in the middle of the night. One of old Ms. McMartin's cats slips in through her bedroom window and introduces himself. His name is Horatio, and he comes with a warning: something in the house doesn't want them there. And then Olive discovers that when she puts on those old glasses, she can actually climb into the paintings. But Olive, beware. There's something evil lurking inside those paintings --- and it wants you gone.

Jacqueline West displays her writing talents beautifully in her debut novel. She has dived into her vivid imagination, dragging out an outrageous adventure filled with creepy bad guys and clever mysteries. She has a sneaky sense of humor that unexpectedly oozes out in just the right places. Olive and the three cats are full of spunk, enthusiasm and personality, and by the end of the book, they feel like good friends. West also has a gift for description that pulls the reader right into the story. Another bonus is the beautiful illustrations scattered throughout; Poly Bernatene has added a special visual treat that enhances the reading experience.

THE SHADOWS is creative, exciting, hilarious, spooky, mysterious, adventurous, and heaps of fun, all wrapped between two covers. Readers will be looking forward to the second installment in the Books of Elsewhere series.

Jewels of the Sun: The Gallaghers of Ardmore Trilogy (Irish Trilogy, Book 1) Specifications

In the small village of Ardmore, Ireland, Gallagher's pub is the center of the lively seaside community and the home of three passionate siblings: Aidan, Shawn, and Darcy. As a world traveler and a barkeep, the eldest brother Aidan has just about seen and heard it all, but when a quiet professor from Chicago enters his tavern, he is instantly intrigued--and certain that there is more to Jude Murray than what meets the eye.

Jude has returned to her grandmother's ancestral home to sort out her thoughts, know her heart, and "find Jude F. Murray in six months or less." After a life of deliberate security, Jude finds herself recovering from a failed marriage and a disappointing career. With the pretense of a research expedition, Jude leaves her life in Chicago and moves into the charming house on top of the faerie hill. Surrounded by the awesome scenery and relieved by the simplicity of life, Jude excuses her visions of ghosts and faeries as signs of her mental recovery.

But the inhabitants of Ardmore, and Aidan Gallagher in particular, don't dismiss these apparitions with such convenient logic, and Jude learns to listen more carefully to the messages in the world. As Aidan and Jude draw closer to each other, Jude struggles to discover, balance, and define the complex parts of her soul.

In the character of Jude Murray, Nora Roberts has created a sophisticated woman whose internal development from skittish recluse to confident lover is realistic and convincing. Carefully avoiding the "good man is a solution to all problems" plot, Roberts lets Jude and Aidan interact and develop individually, as well as together as a couple. While this modern tone is refreshing, it feels a bit at odds with the supernatural, faerie themes. As this is the first in a series about the Gallagher siblings and the faerie legend, perhaps these thematic contradictions will sort themselves out in the subsequent novels. --Nancy R.E. O'Brien

As usual the Guinness Book of World Records 2010 is great! I bought it for my 8 year old math whiz because he LOVES numbers and anything to do with them. The pictures are nice as well. Only drawback would be the font size, but how do you cram all that cool stuff into a large print book and still be affordable? Thank you Guinness Book editors for another amazing record book!

Warrior Rising (Goddess Summoning, Book 6) Overviews

From “a stellar talent”( New York Times bestselling author Karen Marie Moning) comes another “scorchingly sensual, utterly delicious”( New York Times bestselling author Gena Showalter) novel…

The Goddesses have had it with the Trojan War. So much devastation—all because of some silly male egos. The worst of the bunch is that cocky, handsome brute Achilles. But the only way to stop a man like Achilles is to distract him with something far more pleasurable than combat…

Enter Kat, a modern girl from Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Goddesses transform her into a Trojan princess, having no doubt that she’ll capture Achilles’s attention. But can her independent spirit match the unquenchable fire of his epic rage? Goddess only knows…

Warrior Rising (Goddess Summoning, Book 6) CustomerReview

P.C. Cast continues to amaze me and with each Goddess Summoning book it just seems to get better. This is by far the best one in terms of plot - fast paced, full of suspense, humorous, romantic, highly erotic and at times even kinky, and utterly moving - Warrior Rising is a rare jewel and a marvelous twist on historical myths. Anyone who knows the myth of Achilles knows it was Patroklos's foolish mistake that put into motion the events that would ultimately lead to Achille's death and thereby fulfilling his fate, will spend half the book biting their fingernals and wanting to shout to the heroine that not only must she make Achilles promise to stay out of war, but also patroklos! There is more interaction between the Gods and Godesses than any of the other Goddess Summoning books, and the relationships between the minor characters are more complex. This book made me laugh out loud like no other - the scene where heroine Kat and BFF Jacky come to terms with being in the Ancient World and believing in the gods/godessess made me burst into hysterical giggles. The rest of the book is filled with witty, comical conversation between the two modern mortals, making us laugh at not only the clueless mortals of the ancient world, but also at the Goddesses, for despite all their beauty, grace and power, they are simply baffled by modern speach. The swearing and slang such as "schtupping" may seem overdone and vulgar, but in my opinion it simply provides a humorous yet realistic contrast between the characters of the ancient world and those of the modern world. Furthermore, it highlights the difference in culture and mentality. I saw well done Cast.

The only thing I did not like about this book was the ending - why mention Avalon and not elaborate? And seriously, why Kirk? Also, the ethical issue of betrayal in war is completey overlooked - when Kat acts as "the Trojan Horse" by open the gates for the Greek Army to enter Troy, she ais utomatically sentencing hundreds of Trojans to their deaths. The only sense of remorse she shows for her actions is "feeling like the biggest ass ever" for manipulating the gate gaurds, and her reasoning for doing this is to simply "end the war" as fast as possible, but to what cost? The fact is that to everyone else, regardless of who's soul is inhabiting the body, it seems the Trojan princess polyxena betrays her own people - Troy's royal family who was already in utter despair from the death of Hector, showed such kindness and sincere joy when they believed their princess had returned - and yet the heroine seems to show no remorse for sentencing these very people to their own demise. I was also expecting an elaboration of what happens to the royal family when the body of Polyxena opens the Torjan gates and when Poseidon floods the city yet there is no further mention of them whatsoever as if their humanity didn't matter at all. It would be easy to discard them as having "deserved" what happened in the end had they been portrayed as "the bad guys", but Cast portrays them as innocent and evoked strong pity in the reader with their poignant grief over the loss of Hector and the way they tried to comfort each other, that it left me confused and disappointed with Cast for discarding her characters that way.

The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need CustomerReview

I always believe that anyone who is undertaking a subject intensely may need more than one resource...however, I can certainly say that this should be one of the main ones to use for beginners.

Astrology, to me was always a complicated subject and creating a chart for a beginner like myself has always been hell. Learning the some of the different ways that charts are created and the meanings of houses, decanates, etc can confuse a person who is studying alone. I can honestly say that I learned a great deal. Of course, there is more...PLENTY more. But, for the newbie, this can be a great start.

The author informs you of what page to refer to in order to find your ascending sign, and basically to what degree, how to find your moon sign, and other things that one wonders about often. I have not used the CD yet, but, the foreward will also explain that the CD will refer you back to the page number that gives further explanation of what a certain area in your chart means, which is very important.

While I understand that the more experienced persons who rendered their critique say that there is much more involved, please know that your beginnings on any subject should not overwhelm you, but should be used as a building block for the next stage, which there are other books that can assist with that. It is well worth the purchase, and I will be using this as a reference very often. I also have to note that this was purchased on my birthday...I believe it was meant for me to see a book that finally simplified astrology for my needs.

Purchased the book to go with SCREATURE for my 3 year old grandson. Had fun reading the book while he held the SCREATURE Dinosaur. Was concerned SCREATURE would be too scarey for him and purchased the book to read with him just in case. SCREATURE was a hit as was the book.

The Night Before First Grade (Reading Railroad) Overviews

It’s the night before the Big Day—first grade. Penny is excited to start the year with her best friend right beside her in the same classroom. This humorous take on Clement C. Moore’s classic tale has a perfect twist ending that will surprise readers—as well as the "heroine" of the story—and help all about-to-be first-graders through their own backto- school jitters.

The Night Before First Grade (Reading Railroad) CustomerReview

If today was your first day in First Grade, then, this is the book for you. If today reminds you of your first day in First Grade many years ago, you can look back and reflect on this time when you probably wanted to hang on with your best friend from Kindergarten. Sometimes, you might be with that friend, but more than likely, you two will be separated, and find your selves getting together outside of that classroom. You see, there are always more than one group of children in a particular grade at a school. It just happens; and, maybe, you will be together in a class, another year.

I remember my first day "teaching First Grade" and the 50 students who walked their way into my life. There were kids who knew each other in Kindergarten and actually spent First Grade together; then, there were kids who met new friends, as did their friends, and together, that brought several children together.

Right now, if you are reading this, you probably spent today as the first day in First Grade, and your life is taking on new meaning. You will enjoy the adventure in your own life, as well as the adventure in this story. I will not tell you what happens in either place. This way, you can enter each new day with interest and excitement, and "you will be making new memories", just as the first graders in this wonderful story.

So, "Happy First Day in First Grade", all you new first graders!"
